Since 2014, the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Moldova in Chisinau has been running a soup kitchen for old and poor people. During this time, more than 100,000 hot and substantial meals were distributed. This makes the Order of Malta’s soup kitchen one of the most important relief initiatives for the poor in Chisinau. Numerous volunteers support the distribution of meals week after week.

At the 10th anniversary celebrations, Conventual Chaplain a.h. of the Sovereign Order of Malta, H.E. Bishop Anton Cosa celebrated a solemn Holy Mass together with nine of his priests, in which the Bishop thanked the commitment of the Order of Malta, in particular H.E. Ambassador Peter-Canisius von Canisius and his wife Birgit von Canisius, who not only founded the soup kitchen, but have been responsible for its upkeep ever since.
